  Forderung für ein gesetzliches Verbot für das Qualhormon PMSG

  Die Gewinnung von PMSG in Island und Südamerika ist tierschutzwidrig. Mit Gewalt werden halbwilden, trächtigen Stuten während zwei bis drei Monaten bis zu zehn Liter Blut pro Woche abgezapft. Kranke und verletzte Stuten bleiben v. a. in Argentinien und Uruguay sich selbst überlassen. Die Fohlen sind ein reines Neben- und Abfallprodukt: In Island werden sie geschlachtet, in Südamerika abgetrieben. Ein Produkt, das unter derart tierunwürdigen Bedingungen gewonnen wird, soll in der Schweiz nicht verwendet werden. Die Anwendung von PMSG verursacht Leid für Muttersauen und Ferkel. Das Hormon wird meist bei gesunden Sauen eingesetzt. Die eng getakteten Geburten stellen eine enorme Belastung für die Muttersauen dar. Auch schwache und ausgelaugte Tiere werden durch den Hormoneinsatz in die Brunst gezwungen. Zudem werden infolge züchterischer Selektion und hormoneller Beeinflussung oft mehr Ferkel geboren, als die Mutter versorgen kann. Überzählige Ferkel verhungern oder werden getötet.    Ein gesetzliches Verbot des Qualhormons ist längst überfällig. Die Gewinnung und der Einsatz von PMSG dienen allein wirtschaftlichen Interessen und verfolgen das Ziel, massenweise billiges Schweinefleisch zu produzieren. Das freiwillige Verbot der Branche ist begrüssenswert. Es gilt für alle Tierhaltungsbetriebe, welche am Programm «QM-Schweizer Fleisch» teilnehmen – hierzu gehört die grosse Mehrheit der Betriebe. Um Rechtssicherheit und gleiche Rahmenbedingungen für alle Tierhaltenden zu schaffen, muss ein gesetzliches Verbot folgen. Die Schweiz sieht sich als Vorreiterin im Bereich Tierschutz. Ein Verbot von PMSG würde diesem Anspruch gerecht werden und ein klares Signal nach aussen senden. Die Verwendung von PMSG ist weder notwendig noch ethisch vertretbar, da seine Gewinnung und sein Einsatz mit erheblichen Tierschutzproblemen verbunden ist. Ein vollständiger Verzicht auf PMSG in der Schweiz ist daher konsequent und notwendig.   Demande d'interdiction légale de l'« hormone de la souffrance » PMSG

  Le prélèvement de PMSG en Islande et en Amérique du Sud est contraire à la protection des animaux. Sur ces juments semi-sauvages gestantes, jusqu'à dix litres de sang sont prélevés de force par semaine pendant deux à trois mois. Les juments malades et blessées sont laissées à elles-mêmes, surtout en Argentine et en Uruguay. Les poulains ne sont qu'un sous-produit et un déchet : en Islande, ils sont abattus, en Amérique du Sud, ils sont avortés. Un produit obtenu dans des conditions aussi indignes pour les animaux ne doit pas être utilisé en Suisse.   L'utilisation de PMSG provoque des souffrances chez les truies et les porcelets. L'hormone est généralement utilisée sur des truies en bonne santé. Les naissances étroitement synchronisées représentent une énorme charge pour les truies. L’utilisation de l’hormone contraint les animaux à entrer en chaleur même s’ils sont faibles et épuisés. De plus, la sélection d'élevage et l'influence hormonale contraint la mère à donner naissance à plus de porcelets qu’elle ne peut nourrir. Les porcelets en surnombre meurent de faim ou sont tués.   Une interdiction légale de l’« hormone de la souffrance » est attendue depuis longtemps. L'extraction et l'utilisation du PMSG servent uniquement des intérêts économiques et soutiennent une production en masse de la viande de porc à bas prix. L'interdiction volontaire du secteur est louable. Elle s'applique à toutes les exploitations d'élevage qui participent au programme « AQ-Viande Suisse », dont fait partie la grande majorité des exploitations du pays. Une interdiction légale doit être mise en place afin d’assurer une sécurité juridique et des conditions cadres identiques pour tous les éleveurs. La Suisse se considère comme un pays pionnier en matière de protection des animaux. Une interdiction du PMSG serait à la hauteur de cette ambition et enverrait un signal clair vers l'extérieur. L'utilisation du PMSG n'est ni nécessaire ni éthiquement défendable, car son obtention et son utilisation sont liées à des problèmes considérables de protection des animaux. Il est donc logique et nécessaire de renoncer totalement au PMSG en Suisse.   Call for a legal ban on the torture hormone PMSG in Switzerland

  The production of PMSG in Iceland and South America is contrary to animal welfare. Semi-wild, pregnant mares are forcibly drained of up to ten litres of blood per week for two to three months. Sick and injured mares are left to fend for themselves, especially in Argentina and Uruguay. The foals are nothing but a waste byproduct: in Iceland they are slaughtered, in South America they are aborted. A product obtained under such inhumane conditions should not be used in Switzerland. The use of PMSG causes suffering for sows and piglets. The hormone is usually used in healthy sows. The tightly synchronised births place an enormous strain on the sows. Even weak and exhausted animals are forced into heat by using the hormone. As a result of breeding selection and hormonal manipulation, more piglets are often born than the mother can feed. Excess piglets starve to death or are killed. A legal ban on the hormone of misery is long overdue. The production and use of PMSG only serves economic interests and pursues the goal of producing masses of cheap pork. The industry's voluntary ban is to be welcomed. It applies to all livestock farms that participate in the ‘QM Swiss Meat’ programme - which includes the vast majority of farms. In order to create legal certainty and a level playing field for all farmers, a legal ban must now follow. Switzerland sees itself as a pioneer in the field of animal welfare. A ban on PMSG would fulfil this claim and send a clear signal to the outside world. The use of PMSG is neither necessary nor ethically justifiable, as its production and use is associated with considerable animal welfare problems. A complete ban on PMSG in Switzerland is therefore consistent and necessary.   Richiesta di divieto legale dell'« ormone della sofferenza » PMSG

  La produzione di PMSG in Islanda e in America del Sud è contraria al benessere degli animali. Le giumente semiselvatiche e gravide vengono forzatamente svuotate fino a dieci litri di sangue a settimana per due o tre mesi. Le giumente malate e ferite vengono abbandonate a se stesse, soprattutto in Argentina e Uruguay. I puledri sono un puro sottoprodotto: in Islanda vengono macellati, in America del Sud vengono abortiti. Un prodotto ottenuto in condizioni così indegne non dovrebbe essere utilizzato in Svizzera.    L'uso del PMSG causa sofferenza alle scrofe e ai suinetti. L'ormone viene utilizzato soprattutto nelle scrofe sane. Le nascite sincronizzate  a distanza ravvicinata mettono a dura prova le scrofe. Gli animali deboli ed esausti sono anche costretti all'estro in base all'uso di ormoni. Inoltre, come risultato della selezione dell'allevamento e della manipolazione ormonale, spesso nascono più suinetti di quelli che la madre può alimentare. I suinetti in eccesso muoiono di fame o vengono uccisi.    Un divieto legale di questo « ormone della sofferenza » è atteso da tempo. La produzione e l'uso del PMSG servono solo a interessi economici e perseguono l'obiettivo di produrre masse di carne suina a basso costo. Il divieto volontario dell'industria va accolto con favore. Esso si applica a tutti gli allevamenti che partecipano al programma « AQ-Carne Svizzera », ovvero la stragrande maggioranza degli allevamenti. Per creare certezza giuridica e condizioni di parità per tutti gli allevatori, deve seguire un divieto legale. La Svizzera si considera un pioniere nel campo del benessere animale. Un divieto del PMSG soddisferebbe questa pretesa e invierebbe un chiaro segnale al mondo esterno. L'uso del PMSG non è né necessario né eticamente giustificabile, poiché la sua estrazione e il suo utilizzo sono associati a notevoli problemi di benessere animale. Una rinuncia completa al PMSG in Svizzera è quindi coerente e necessaria.
