  • Don’t play with the dictator - boycottez le championnat du monde de hockey sur glace en Biélorussie
    René Fasel, président de la Fédération mondiale de hockey sur glace IIHF, est resté jusqu'à présent favorable à l'organisation du championnat du monde en Biélorussie. À la mi-janvier 2021, il s'est même rendu à Minsk et s'est fait photographier en train d'embrasser Loukachenko. Il a déclaré que la Coupe du monde devrait faciliter la réconciliation entre le régime et l'opposition. Cette attitude est naïve et dangereuse. La Coupe du monde ne conduira pas à un dialogue entre le régime et l'opposition, mais va plutôt constituer une possibilité de propagande pour Loukachenko. En 2014, Loukachenko a déjà abusé de la Coupe du monde de hockey sur glace pour ses propres besoins et s'est mis en scène comme un président proche du peuple, tandis que les indésirables comme les sans-abri étaient violemment chassés de la ville. La Biélorussie ne retrouvera la paix que lorsque Loukachenko aura démissioné, que les prisonniers politiques seront libérés et qu'il ouvre la voie à de nouvelles élections démocratiques. La communauté internationale doit soutenir le peuple biélorusse dans sa lutte pour la liberté et la démocratie, au lieu de fournir au dictateur une scène de propagande sous la forme de la Coupe du monde. Le Danemark a déjà annoncé qu'il allait boycotter la Coupe du monde de hockey sur glace si elle se déroulait en Biélorussie . La Suisse doit faire de même et prendre clairement position contre la Coupe du monde en Biélorussie. *** La pétition a été lancée par l'association "Libereco - Partnership for Human Rights", qui milite pour les droits de l'homme en Biélorussie et en Ukraine, et par l'organisation de campagne Campax.   • Don't play with the dictator - boycott the Ice Hockey World Cup in Belarus
    René Fasel, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF, has so far supported the hosting of the World Cup in Belarus. In mid-January 2021, he even travelled to Minsk and was photographed embracing Lukashenka. He said that the World Cup should facilitate reconciliation between the regime and the opposition. This attitude is naive and dangerous. The World Cup will not lead to dialogue between the regime and the opposition, but will serve as a propaganda stage for Lukashenka. Already in 2014, Lukashenka misused the Ice Hockey World Cup for his own purposes and staged himself as a president who was close to the people, while people who were undesired such as homeless human beings, were violently removed from the city. Belarus will only regain peace when Lukashenka resigns, when the political prisoners are released and he paves the way for new democratic elections. The international community must support the people of Belarus in their struggle for freedom and democracy instead of providing a propaganda stage for the dictator at the World Cup. Denmark has already announced that it will boycott the Ice Hockey World Cup if it is held in Belarus. Switzerland must do the same and stand up against the World Cup in Belarus. *** The petition was initiated by the organization "Libereco - Partnership for Human Rights", which engages for human rights in Belarus and Ukraine, and the campaign organization Campax.   • Don’t play with the dictator - Eishockey-WM in Belarus boykottieren
    René Fasel, Präsident des Eishockey-Weltverbands IIHF, hält bisher an der Austragung der WM in Belarus fest. Mitte Januar 2021 reiste er gar nach Minsk und liess sich bei einer freundschaftlichen Umarmung mit Lukaschenko ablichten. Er meinte dazu, dass die Weltmeisterschaft eine Versöhnung von Regime und Opposition vereinfachen werde. Diese Haltung ist blauäugig und gefährlich. Die WM wird nicht zum Dialog zwischen Regime und Opposition führen, sondern Lukaschenko als Propaganda-Bühne dienen. Bereits 2014 missbrauchte Lukaschenko die Eishockey-Weltmeisterschaft für seine Zwecke und inszenierte sich als volksnaher Präsident, während politische Aktivist*innnen inhaftiert und unerwünschte Menschen wie Obdachlose gewaltsam aus der Stadt weggeschafft wurden. Belarus wird erst wieder zur Ruhe kommen, wenn Lukaschenko zurücktritt, die politischen Gefangenen freigelassen werden und er den Weg frei macht für demokratische Neuwahlen. Die internationale Gemeinschaft muss die Bevölkerung in Belarus in ihrem Kampf für Freiheit und Demokratie unterstützen, statt den Diktator mit einer WM zu legitimieren und seiner Propaganda zu dienen. Dänemark hat bereits angekündigt, die Eishockey-WM zu boykottieren, sollte sie in Belarus ausgetragen werden. Die Schweiz sollte diesem Beispiel folgen und klar Stellung gegen eine WM-Austragung in Belarus beziehen. *** Initianten der Petition sind der Verein «Libereco - Partnership for Human Rights», der sich für Menschenrechte in Belarus und der Ukraine einsetzt und die Kampagnenorganisation Campax.
